Requirements

Writing Sample

4,000 to 6,000 words of prose (which may be any combination of short fiction, nonfiction, a novel, or manuscript excerpt).

Transcripts

One copy of academic records from all postsecondary education.

Statement of Faith

In 300-500 words discussing your approach to writing and reading; the books, works of art, movies, and/or other sources which influence your writing; what the purpose of writing is; what you would like to accomplish during and after your M.F.A.

Interview

Qualified applicants may, at the discretion of the admissions committee, also be interviewed, either in person or by telephone/Skype.

Letters of Recommendation

Two (2) letters of recommendation from professionals or former teachers who know your writing. The recommendations should comment specifically on the applicant’s writing ability and suitability/qualification for a terminal degree.
